This site links to websites of other people and organisations with which my work is closely connected. This is far from being a complete list.

Vérčne Nicolas - my wife, who trains using the Training for Transformation approach and works particularly with marginalised women.

Centre for Human Ecology. I am a Fellow of this and teach a module, Soil, Soul & Society on its MSc degree course in human ecology which is accredited by the Open University Validation Service.

The GalGael Trust. I am a founding trustee of this community organisation that works for social and ecological regeneration and building an inclusive sense of cultural identity in Scotland.

Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust. I am a founding and then community-elected trustee of the original Isle of Eigg Trust that was set up in 1991. In 1997 we transferred most of our assets over to the new Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust which comprises 8 trustees, 4 being elected island residents representing the local community, 2 being Highland Council appointees representing the wider democratic constituency, and 2 from the Scottish Wildlife Trust representing the flowers and little critters. The chair is, Simon Fraser, lawyer and Gaelic-speaking crofter from the Isle of Lewis.

Rainforest Information Centre (Australia - John Seed). John Seed is a great teacher. Check out this site for lots of good information on deep ecology. In March 2000 we ran a three-week course together on "Soil, Soul & Society" at Schumacher College, Totnes, with Carolyn Merchant, author of "The Death of Nature."

Alan Kenneth Templeton - link to page about Liz & Douglas Templeton's missing son.

The Coach House Kilmuir Trust - an Ignatian-style retreat centre near Inverness that Verene and I go to.

Doon of May - a group of back-to-the-landers with GalGael connections who live in the forests of Galloway.

Green Earth Foundation, website of Ralph Metzner of the original Leary/Alpert/Metzner triune - lots of stuff on consciousness, including an excellent bibliography.

Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust - which funded much of my work from April 1998 - March 2001.

Schumacher College - courses on theme of "soil, soul and society".

Frank Stark - a wildlife photographer based in my own home village of Leurbost on the Isle of Lewis - check out the photos and write-ups - check out the "Ariticles" section of his site.

George Monbiot is one of the great social thinkers of our times. Writing about Celtic matters from a Scottish perspective, I often get asked by English people about English identity. George is one of those to whom I point as an illustration of the vision and dynamism that English culture is capable of offering the world. His website contains hundreds of pieces of his writing.

Trident Ploughshares are a group of people committed to undertaking acts of nonviolent civil disobedience in opposition to Britain's four nuclear submarines that are based on Scottish soil.

The James Naylor Foundation is a Quaker-inspired organisation furthering the work of prison psychiatrist Dr Bob Johnson in understanding personality disorders.

SpeyGrian - An innovative Scottish organisation researching and supporting deep ecology educational principles in schools.

Patrick Geddes - this is a site run by Mike Small to celebrate that "most unsettling person" - pioneer human ecologist, town planner, peace activist, botanist, and all good things.

Word Power - an independent radical bookshop in Edinburgh - a good place to buy Soil and Soul and many other radical books, now with online ordering; also, sponsors of an excellent annual Radical Book Fair.

Martin Donnelly - a Northern Irish musician with whom I sometimes work.

Baillie John Flanagan - our local Glasgow City Councillor for Govan.

The Ronnie Hancox Band - a Tamworth Bands band history webpage for my maternal grandfather (merrymaking counterpoint to the Scots presbyterianism on my father's side!)

Community Land Scotland - a coalition of communities that have acquired their own land as part of Scotland's land reform movement.
